Workers Compensation Services

Workstation Ergonomics is frequently referred to by insurance companies, treating physicians, vocational rehabilitation counselors and nurse case managers to assist in appropriate return-to-work planning for  clients. Services include:

Ergonomic Jobsite Evaluation

Each staff member is both a Registered Occupational Therapist as well as a Certified Associate Ergonomist.  Each has over 20 years of experience in the Workers Compensation venue.  Our strength is our ability to identify risk factors that directly contribute to the claimant’s symptoms.  We consider existing equipment as well as postures, frequency and duration of job tasks, work habits and movement patterns.

A written report documenting the above and recommended interventions is provided.  Upon request, any recommended equipment is ordered and a follow-up visit performed to instruct the claimant in appropriate use. A follow-up report is generated to assist in case resolution.  Copies are provided to all parties including medical provider, insurance company and supervisor/human resources department.

Ergonomic Chair Fittings and Alternative Keyboard/Mouse Evaluation

Our Ergonomic Lab is conveniently located for most Bay Area clients to visit. The lab has a wide assortment of chairs, keyboards and pointing devices that can be used to determine correct solutions.  This eliminates the guesswork in selecting items and allows feedback from the client on which product is most comfortable.

Biofeedback can be used to help determine appropriate products.  Biofeedback training is available to assist in extinguishing poor movement patterns that contribute to symptoms.

Functional Capacity Evaluations

This is a two-day evaluation to assist in establishing safe parameters for return-to-work. Tolerances utilizing alternative keyboards, pointing devices, ergonomic chairs and writing instruments are evaluated.  Frequently, appropriate ergonomic equipment can enhance the client’s tolerances and promote a safe return-to-work.

For heavier material handling jobs, computer-based testing is available utilizing the Ergos Testing System. This provides objective data regarding clients' safe physical capacities and endurance for work activities.
